I have tried lowering settings, both sound and video. Yet the framerate still plummets. The difference for changing the settings from high to low is neglible. So I can rule out hardware. (I got quad core, 1Gb 8800Gt, 4Gb Ram. X-fi card Yadda yadda)(I also got as many fans as Liverpool FC, 6 )

I clear out the cache after every settings change.

I like to keep up to date with drivers.

Vanilla BF2 online seems unaffected but I do occasionally suffer slowdown. I havent measured FPS but it is more than playable.

These mods seem to be fun when they work, but they do not want to. The most extreme lag is when a minigun is fired on AIX.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Now that I see this typed out I'm getting a feel for what has happened. I went through this myself and it was due to installing mods to try them out. After all was said and done AIX was the only good one in the bunch, but that was before the v1.50 patch came out. To date I am not aware of a fix for this causing problems. If I understand what I've read correctly the v1.50 patch is currently incompatible with AIX. It will cause an upset in both AIX and BF2 if you try to play AIX with the patch installed. As such the only recourse I know of at this time is to uninstall BF2 and AIX. Clean up the registry and then reinstall BF2. Then reinstall the patches.

I'm told that someone is working on a toggle similar to the one used in the original BF 1942 that will allow selecting which patch version you want to use so AIX players can do so without the v1.50 patch causing a problem. It would revert the AIX back to the 1.41 patch.

Hope this helps.

I hate simple answers.

Disabled AMD cool and quiet.
Doesn't make it ultra smooth, just playable.

Thanks for all the ideas patriot. :) And while project reality also suffered it helped out ruling out another option. And its awesome ;)
