I Will be able to purchase this PC later on in the week, now should I wait a little longer until I have some more money or make any alterations?

I can get a 9 series card for less than the 8800GTS.
I may not get the TV card and increase the CPU cooling.

Speak now as I could use the advise.

dude..............thats a fan-TASTIC rig. the reason why the 9 series would b cheaper is probably bc u'd get the 9600 GT and its got a slightly lower memory interface, memory bandwidth and texture fill rate. Unless ur gonna get a 9800 GTX or GX2, id stick with the 8800GTS. And unless u actually plan on usin the computer as a media center pc fer watchin and recording tv, id ditch the tv card. However, unless u plan on overclocking ur stock cooling solution should be perfectly fine. Its up to u tho.

The 1000Watt power supply is overkill. The cost to run that on your energy bill will be high and it is not needed. Is day max should be an 800watt power supply. 600Watt would even power that fine but need a little overhead. The 9 series cards are no match for the 8800's. The GTS is proving to be a good card in comparison to the GTX as there is not much difference, only in the price unless you go for the Ultra. The card you have chosen has SLi capabilities so you are future proof. The processor is fine. RAM, now I use 800Mhz DDR2 ram. which is faster than the backdated 667Mhz. My RAM cost me 35GBP for 2 x 1GB sticks. They also come in 2GB sticks. They are GeiL memory. They have excellent reviews and the price at the moment is fantastic on them. The case is all based upon your preference as long as you think it is going to be cool enough for your components. Bigger the more cooling. The hard drive is good as it is SATAII and that means 3GBps transfer rate so no problems there. The TV tuner card is up to you. To replace that with more cooling may be a good thing if you're not going to need the TV Tuner. Finally, the Motherboard is a good chip set, there is better, but not needed.

There is one bad thing about your system there. I don't think I have to say what :) The only good choice there is the 64-bit as you need it for over 3GB of RAM. XP is no more due to Microsoft stopping all new licenses for XP. I guess your stuck with vista but the choice of version is good.

Nothing more to say, hope it helped :)

Nice low/mid end system. Get with me today on MSN messenger and I will give you some links on better stuff that is future proof.

Fond some cases that have PSU that are 850watt and also has pcie 8x power connectors. Plus are both modular types, located in the UK.

If you decide to stay with the Q6600 which is only 1066 fsb, make sure you get the GO series chipset. Would suggest going with one of these instead, Q9300, E8400 or E8500, all are 1333mhz fsb. Plus wait until April 20th, when Intel lowers there prices on CPU's.

Now on the ram, would suggest moving up to DDR2 800mhz or 1066mhz. Found some really good buys and would also suggest on getting then in 2x2gb kits. On the ram if prices are to high for you in UK, then you could get me to order them here in the States for you and ship them to you.

(also found on NewEgg)

About your choice of motherboard, bad choice since your choice has been discontinued here in the States. Would suggest going with one of these below.

680i, 780i if you are thinking of going SLi in the future or an X38 or P35 mobo. I already got some of them picked for you to review.

On the graphic card and TV card. Instead of getting them both, how about getting the 9800 GX2 card which comes with a HDMI port. Plus it will allow you to take a look at either the P35 or X38 mobo's as another choice.

My Bank keeps blocking the transaction so I'm gonna have to have a word with the bank.

I know I mentioned this to some others and some actually have this setup. If possible, due to finances, try to set up with a set of striped drives. Both in 2+0 configuration and isolated from each other. SATA is good way to go. I recommend using a "Promise" controller if available on-board for the drive you play on and using an image of your game disk installed on the other drive<------ (need not necessarily be striped) instead of using your disk.

Both GE and Yoosty make great points both financially and technically. 1000 watt power supply is over kill by a long shot. A 600 or 650 watt should do the trick for all rail voltages for up to five seperate hard drives with your present layout.

Best of luck.

John
