The invasion of Iraq was justified by many labour politicians as a humanitarian effort to save the Iraqi people from oppression. Fair enough. But to implement the foreign policy on the basis of this is flawed, some African nations face similar difficulties with leaders whom oppress their people. So if the U.K and U.S.A are so caring toward the peoples of other nations why don't they go the whole nine yards and invade them. The fact is the rich natural resources within Iraq was a reason for invasion. Also it shows the U.S.A and U.K advocating imperialism, under the cover of the war on terror. If the sectarian violence continues it could be likely that the U.S.A or the U.K takes direct control of Iraq. Then it becomes part of the hidden empire.

I agree Liam, the conflict in Africa that involved british nationals was not acted upon. there was no profit to be made, the re-building contracts from both the Iraq wars were worth billions, the UK got some but mainly these were handed out BEFORE invasion to US companies. Bush himself made millions from his involvement in US arms companies.
neither the US or the Uk want Iraq as a province its to much hassle. the people themselves are so engrossed and obcessed with religion that within 10 years of the invasion forces leaving it will be once again led by a form of dictator or a govenment being used as mere puppets by some religious fanatic.
I must say I was originally for the invasion but after all the bullshit was blown away and the true ressons were revealed as well as the total lack of the british armed forces in providing support for its troops I am decidely against iraq in any shape or form. I say pull out and let them kill each other.....thats all they want to do anyway.
And i end this by saying..as to why were in Afghanistan completley baffles me.
The country is a shit hole that can be conquered and will end up the UKs vietnam if they dont watch it.

its the russians turn to fuck us , after all they had their ass banged in the 80's "the big game' while we funded the opium pirates. now russia is funding and suppling them via the proxy of iran/pakistan. if ever ,we have the best chance to pull it off because we still have the greatest advantages,

but we also have the greatest handicaps. ROE,Geneva conventions,media embedded, civilian government politics meddling in the military decisions.

get rid of all that and stop taking the higher ground. let the military do what it supposed to do, which kill things without mercy or quarter and lots of them

Afghanistan I believe now is a UN action Canadian solders among many other nationalities of solders are based their. I Think it was to remove the Al-Queda from power because of 9/11. It was originally led by U.S and U.K forces. We are still their I think because of our duties toward NATO.

Also most Muslim states with increasing military power or an increasing economy are a threat to Israel, Israel which seem to be puppets of the U.S are used to watch over developing Muslim states and sometimes attack them. The U.S took the wars on to help Israel and to make a profit with the American economy based on profit. By the way im not being anti-semitic im critisising the U.S control over Israel.

I tend to agree igloo. I watched a program on the Israel wars and even afterr a ceasefire they continued to take land and ignore so called resolutions. Like most countries NATO is believed to be a joke and only useful to those that need it at the time.
Saddam ignored Nato as have the other european dictators lately, and strangely enough it always seems to be the same countries that send troops and hidden ajendas and profits see those troops being withdrawn not for the good of the oppressed but to make sure some politicans are re-elected.
And heres a prophecy for you. Once they find all the resources they believe to be about the Falklands you watch Argentina move.........and this time the UK cant manage another invasion like they once did.
